Being passionate about creating heirloom-quality books which nurture the faith, it made perfect sense to launch My Catholic Library with the Children’s Missal – what better way to begin their Catholic library than with a book which explains the Mass? To be honest, even adults can learn a thing or two from this book! I’ve got a series of videos and blog posts which dive into the content of the book more fully, so feel free to check those out, and join in the discussion.
For the covering material, I’ve chosen a bookcloth called Arbelave, used in libraries and archives around the world for both its durability (stain and moisture resistant – very handy for a children’s book), and attractive texture and finish. I’ve used a technique called the ‘French link stitch’ to sew the books together, giving a strong yet flexible spine, and the foil decorations are made on a manual blocking press, with letters being set by hand in moveable brass type.
And the best part is, you can make it just how you want it! Pick the cover colour, front decoration, and type in the child’s first name for the spine, and I’ll create your book from scratch.
